Applying for Social Security Disability Benefits

Anyone who is unable to work may file an application for social security disability benefits.

This initial application may be filed without the assistance of an attorney by contacting the Social Security Administration directly at 1-800-772-1213. Do not be discouraged if your initial application is denied, this is not uncommon. If your application is denied, promptly file an appeal.

What to Do If You Are Denied on Your Initial Application

It is not uncommon to be turned down on your initial application for benefits. If this has occurred, contact our office and we will promptly file your appeal for you. This appeal is called a Request for Reconsideration. If your request for reconsideration is turned down, you have the right to appeal that decision as well and file a Request for Hearing Before an Administration Law Judge. It is at the hearing stage where most people are awarded benefits.

If you believe you are disabled and are entitled to Social Security Disability benefits, please call our office today for your free consultation.
